Overview
When I joined TIDAL, the brand was in the middle of a refresh so as a design team we had a lot of flexibility in how to create different assets. We wanted to keep Tidal's high-contrast, bold feel, while making sure all the assets felt consistent aesthetically.
DJ Selector
DJ Selector was a new content piece where DJs curated their own playlists on the app. The idea was to give each DJ their own "record" for the playlist graphic. We also designed a landing page where Tidal members could access the playlists online.
Event graphics
The graphics on the right-hand side were created for various TIDAL events. At the time, the company was running several events, many with short notice, so we needed to produce social media assets quickly. Another challenge was imagery. Free high quality images of artists were hard to come by and could take several days to get permission for use. So, to work around the lack of imagery I used bold typography, shadows and shapes, while trying to stay within the overall TIDAL aesthetic. Conceptually, the art director and I talked about bringing in dimensionality to the graphics, since TIDAL wanted to be known as a multi-platform company.
